Campfire Musings

“You know what’s interesting,” Jana said “is that beyond those stars is a universe we couldn’t comprehend the vastness of.”

Here we sat on a rocky promontory along the Pohono Trail, peering at Yosemite Valley below, the moonlight shining down on El Capitan like a ghostly figure staring right back at us.
“Maybe we were never meant to understand that scale, but I’m fairly satisfied with knowing that somewhere inside it is a group of living things trying to figure this out,” I replied.

KT sat next to the campfire, the frigid wind blowing in.

I’ve set out to walk over trails on numerous occasions.  For every significant distance I travelled, I have mulled over the kind of placement given to me in this world, or universe for that matter.  Here, at Inspiration Point, high above Yosemite Valley, I realized we, humankind, all ruminate on this and that we don’t all, if ever, stumble upon any kind of answer.

“I never thought I would ever wind up here to see this place under the moonlight," I mused silently while basking in the soft glow of all the celestial beings aloft.   Although, I haven't needed to know where I was meant to belong for awhile, at that moment, I felt I was in the right place.  Maybe that was enough for an answer.
