Discovery Park

I ran Discovery Park yesterday: A little over 3 miles total, and it took about a half hour.  It was so nice to see this lighthouse in winter.  The trails there were a bit difficult to run on due to the varying degrees of hilliness.  But the scenery was beautiful, as always!

Creationism II

Bill Nye (the science guy) debated Ken Ham, a creationist, the other night.

Re: to someone who said that public education fails everyone.

Many folks who emerge from the same education system as these creationist guys have gone on to learn about, understand, and accept science as the most valid wellspring of knowledge.  Science is hard, and public education doesn't make it easy (and it shouldn't), but that doesn't mean it's fine to replace all of its premises with something that is entirely contingent upon the absence of evidence.

Everyone of us today have the best opportunity to enable discovery.  The capacity to unlock the secrets of the universe. In all of history, we have the equipment, the resource, the intelligence to herald forth many answers. Yet so many of us have willingly turned it down.  Such a shame.
