Days Off
Work has effectively forced me to take 3 days off this week. I earned far too many PTO that this month, since it marks my 6th year anniversary, HR imposed a cap and will withhold further accrual of hours until I use up some of it. So, now it's Tuesday. I've been playing catch up with stuff and cleaning things I've been planning to clean since last fall (garage, fireplace, storage). It feels nice. I could totally benefit from taking more days off.

New Art
I hiked Greenwater and Echo Lakes earlier today. I didn't see much of Echo since it was cloudy and the peaks whose presence I felt but did not readily see gave only the faintest hint of context. These were a meditation on the landscape when the conditions are about 80% less nebulous.
Bah! This picture, taken by my iPhone, has far too much glare. Will re-shoot once the paints dry out a little.

Armchair Musings I
There are numerous things I don't understand. But there's no reason to believe that magic will explain them.

Columbia River
I've been spending many weekends in Central Washington this month. The place is almost otherworldly and these paintings were inspired by that. I tried to illustrate the barren features and ghostly rise of nearby coulees and how they differ to the vibrant lush of Western Washington.
(Western Wa for contrast)

Desert Art
I've been spending my weekends strolling across the vast landscapes of Yakima Valley. Most recently visited the Crab Creek Wildlife Area which inspired this piece to a large degree.
